An innovative Assemblies of God missions funding program involves recycling cell phones and printer ink cartridges. Launched in 2001, Child Compassion Challenge uses recycling as a two-pronged tool to:
Missionaries Mike and Nancy Ferguson are the national representatives for Child Compassion Challenge. They also head KidCare America, the after-school mentoring ministry.
Child Compassion Challenge (CCC) has already received more than $150,000 for used inkjet cartridges from Women's Ministries groups and other groups.
Recycling Facts: 350 million laser and inkjet cartridges are used each year. About five percent are recycled. The rest are dumped in landfills.
Child Compassion Challenge will send a rebate check each quarter ($25.00 minimum) for each qualifying inkjet and laser cartridge and used cell phone.
When your church receives a check for your local ministry, missions or outreach events, KidCare America receives matching funds. While you are helping to reach people in your community, monies are being raised for missions across the nation.
To enroll online and check the list of qualifying cartridges and other details, visit www.agccc.org, or phone 1-866-50-4-KIDS. To contact Mike or Nancy Ferguson, send an e-mail to mferguson@afterschoolmentoring.org.
