Women's Connection

Women’s Connection is driven by a passionate desire for mentorship and integration. Accelerated by enthusiasm, love and strategic planning, Women’s Connection has succeeded in uniting a sisterhood of believers at Orange County Worship Center. Women’s Director Denise Ryan says, “More than anything, my desire is that the Lord is truly creating us to be people who love unconditionally. For women who have been hurt or neglected, we want the church to be a place that is nurturing.”

The core leadership of Women’s Connection consists of 12 women. In addition to heading various ministries, leaders are trained to be mentors in their field.

Women’s Connection hosts over nine ministries annually. Ministries such as Bible studies, Girls Night Out, Women’s Connection LIVE and Senior Tea Time are all designed to encourage and bond women together. Support ministries such as MOMS Connection, Family Brunch and A Widows Might are also offered for specified needs.

The support ministries are the key factors of mentorship. MOMS Connection is a support group geared for moms seeking guidance, friendship and encouragement. MOMS Connection allows families to integrate, offering dynamic healthy relationships with other families.

The Family Brunch is an event held the Sunday after Mother’s Day for single moms and their families. During this event, families enjoy a special meal, a professional family photograph, a free car wash, a gift box full of groceries and a gift for each mother. Children are also given the opportunity to make their mothers a gift.

A Widows Might is a powerful ministry held twice a year—once on Valentine’s Day and again in December. Senior Pastor Rick Ryan and his wife Denise host a brunch in their home on Valentine’s Day for the widows. Ryan said, “The women look forward to this event. It makes the day less difficult and the Lord has brought a lot of healing through this event.”

In addition to these ministries, Women’s Connection supports other causes such as Grace Elliot Center (Pregnancy Crisis Center), Project Hope and an annual rummage sale for sectional ministries.

A contributing factor to the success of Women’s Connection is partnership. Ryan says, “It is crucial to walk in partnership. There is something significant that happens when we give things away and partner with one another.”

In less than two years, Women’s Connection has succeeded in developing and discipling women in their congregation. In the future, Women’s Connection will continue to strive to offer fresh ideas to cultivate new and existing ministries. Ryan says, “We try to not be so locked into a program and events that we don’t stop to hear where the Lord is leading us.” The heart behind Women’s Connection is to truly see their community of women thrive at any stage in life.
