“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter” (Proverbs 24:11, NIV).
As moms were so busy taking care of our families needs that it’s easy to look past the needs of people outside that circle. But God tells us we’re responsible for others too. Look around. Who needs your help? Are there any neglected elderly people, unwanted babies, or abandoned children who could use your intervention? Have you visited the inner city lately? What about the streets of downtown? Our lives are so incredibly blessed, couldn’t we give just a little of our time and resources to help those less fortunate? Begin checking with organizations in your city that help those who can’t help themselves, and volunteer to do whatever they need. You may be surprised at how much you get by giving.
God, show me where I can make a difference in my community. Give me a swift kick in the pants when I start becoming myopic in my view of the world. Open my eyes to see the needs around me, and then give me Your vision for what I can do to help. Use me, Lord!
