“The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out” (Proverbs 10:9, NIV).
I like to define integrity as living your life as though no one but God was watching. Sometimes that means I could get away with a secret sin, but I choose not to because I don’t want to displease God. Other times it means I choose to please God even if that upsets people I care about. If we live our lives before an audience of One, then we can rest easy as long as we know He’s happy. As moms it helps to remember that besides the “Big Eye in the Sky,” little eyes are constantly focused on our every choice. Our children will reflect what we model before them. I don’t want to be embarrassed if someday they reflect my “at home” behavior when we’re not at home.
God, please shine a searchlight on my heart and expose any hidden sins. I want to bring them into the light of Your love so I can be forgiven and cleansed. Keep my conscience sensitive so I won’t tolerate any hint of shadow in my thoughts or actions.
