Pray for Christians around the world, particularly those persecuted or harassed.
“Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control” (Proverbs 25:28, NIV).
We’ve all seen it. Lives destroyed by addictions. Marriage dissolved because of unbridled lust or anger. Children in trouble because they’ve never been disciplined. A lack of self-control can rob and defeat any life. Even “acceptable” indulgences, like overeating, hasty spending, or unholy media choices, can leave us open to attack. Yet self-control is listed as a fruit of the Spirit. That tells us we can’t be strong enough on our own. We need help from the Spirit of God to control our impulses, even our less passionate ones. Thankfully, that power is available. All we need is enough self-control to ask for it.
OK, Lord, I really need Your help in this area. Many parts of my life are broken down because of my lack of self-control. My prayer is that You will strengthen me from the inside out and then restore and redeem those things I’ve lost because of my sin. Bring healing where there has been destruction.
