On Working Hard

“Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth” (Proverbs 10:4, NIV)

Now this is just common sense. If we’re lazy and not willing to work hard, we aren’t going to accomplish much. But if we don’t give up, if we keep doing a good job, even on those days when we’re tired of working and bored with our lives, then we will be rewarded. I’m not just talking about monetary rewards. As moms we put in long, exhausting hours, and the result is that we get to enjoy the richness of a loving family in a peaceful home with happy kids. That makes it all worthwhile.

Lord, would You please allow me to do work I enjoy? Help me find fulfillment in using the gifts You’ve placed within me. I want to experience deep satisfaction in working hard. During those times when I’m not so thrilled about my job as a mom, help me to perform it as unto You and to find joy in pleasing You.
