By Sheila Harper
Sheila Harper knows firsthand the desperation surrounding abortion, as well as the aftermath of agony and devastation as a woman tries unsuccessfully to come to terms with what she has done. Pregnant at 19, she went to a clinic desperate for counsel—for someone who could discuss an alternative to abortion. Upon signing in, she was told she would receive that counsel, and breathed a sigh of relief. But when she was called into the office, she was simply handed a number and told she would be called when it was her turn.
She was changed forever that day—but had no idea how much her life would change. Post Abortion Syndrome (PAS) haunts millions of women—and the men who were involved as well. Some have nightmares, others become promiscuous, still others are an emotional wreck and refuse to forgive themselves.
God inspired Harper to write this Bible study to help women find the emotional healing they need after an abortion. Harper explains that though it was not God’s destiny for them to have an abortion, He can redeem their lives and turn something horrific into something beautiful for Him.
Many women repress their feelings and try to never think about it once the abortion is over. But in this study they will be asked to remember the details and answer questions regarding their experience. They will be guided to understand and deal with feelings of anger, bitterness and unforgiveness—and ultimately are led to the revelation that only God’s grace can bring redemption and allow them to forgive even themselves. Finally, women will be instructed on how to renew their minds to believe and think only those thoughts that line up with God’s Word, when Satan would prefer they continue to wallow in guilt.
Several blank pages are included at the end of each chapter, for the purpose of journaling and note-taking. Scripture memory is included. The margins of many of the pages are peppered with wisdom from giants of the faith such as A.W. Tozer, J.I. Packer, Oswald Chambers, C.S. Lewis, Martin Luther and Charles Spurgeon. In addition, testimonies from women who have already been through the study are included.
A companion study for men is available as well.
