By Dr. Gary & Barbara Rosberg, with Ginger Kolbaba (Tyndale 2006)
To honor Valentine’s Day this week, we thought we’d choose a book that celebrates physical intimacy in a godly marriage. The Rosbergs have conducted conferences on marriage and family relationships across the country, and they host a nationally syndicated weekday radio program, America’s Family Coaches . . . LIVE! Ginger Kolbaba is the editor of Marriage Partnership magazine. In short, these people are experts!
The five sex needs of men and women are discussed separately, and include obvious needs such as affirmation, connection, and mutual satisfaction, as well as other, perhaps less obvious ones like spiritual intimacy and romance. Helpful chapters discuss what to do when your libidos don’t match, and how to cope when you’re simply too exhausted for sex.
A chapter on tackling deeper issues that damage your sex life addresses premarital sex, pornography, infidelity and sexual trauma. The authors paint a clear picture of how destructive these things can be, but they also give hope—that, with God’s help, a couple committed to each other can work together to bring forgiveness and healing to their marriage.
