By Scot McKnight (Paraclete Press, 2007)
Christians know that Mary has always been important, simply because she is the mother of Jesus. But somehow, perhaps in response to what we perceived as Roman Catholic worship of her, Protestants have often played down her role.
In this book, New Testament scholar Scot McKnight invites us to reclaim the Mary of the Bible—not a pious, passive figurine in our crèche, but a gutsy woman of courage, humility, and tenacious faith. When you think about it, it is a pretty radical thing to say yes to God, particularly given Mary’s circumstances, in that time in history and in her culture.
McKnight offers a deeper understanding and appreciation of Mary’s life and character, ultimately showing that the real Mary always leads to Jesus.
