By Tina Zahn and Wanda Dyson
Revell Publishing
Unresolved childhood trauma, postpartum depression and a lifetime of feeling unwanted and uncared for finally drove Tina Zahn to attempt suicide in 2004. The widely televised incident involved a car chase ending on the Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge, the tallest bridge in Wisconsin, when Zahn exited her car and jumped off the bridge. In a miracle of timing, a police officer was able to catch her by the wrist and save her life.
In her memoir, Why I Jumped, Tina Zahn tells her story and provides useful resources on dealing with and releasing unresolved pain and abuse. Zahn does not claim to be a writer, and while reading her story, a reader often feels as though she is thumbing through Zahn’s journal. Tina allows us into her world in an attempt to help others in the same pit of depression and despair.
Anyone dealing with postpartum depression and/or past traumas will benefit from the story of Zahn’s eventual reliance on God and her amazing recovery.
