Capital Christian Center’s Women’s Ministries is built upon a love of people, a heart after God, and a solid foundation of leadership. Hosting a congregation of over 600 women, Women’s Ministries has succeeded in establishing foundational leadership. Director Joanne Cole said, “One thing I find unique about this ministry is the strength of the leadership. We are blessed with women who are gifted, equipped and called, and because of that there is a willingness to serve and take ownership.”
The central leadership behind Women’s Ministries is called Servant Corps and consists of 18 women. These women serve as advisors, accountability partners, and leaders of the various ministries.
Women’s Ministries hosts more than eight ministries and events annually. These include WOW Bible Studies, Ladies Night Out, MOMS Prayer Group, San Francisco Bus Trip, Mother-Daughter Banquet, and two retreats. In addition, Women’s Ministries assists in outreach events such as the Glass Slipper Ministry, Care-And-Share, and a church-wide coin offering to support the Northern California-Nevada District.
The WOW Bible Studies are a vital facet to Women’s Ministries. Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening Bible studies occur during two main semesters. Each Servant Corps leader is responsible for a table. With an average of twelve women per table, these groups function as a form of small group or discussion group. In addition, these groups offer further fellowship through home luncheons and other various activities.
Alongside the WOW Bible Studies and other special events are the two annual retreats, called Renewal and Women’s Retreat. Renewal is a locally held retreat designed for a refreshing time of fellowship and discipleship. This event consists of a guest speaker, various workshops and a beautiful lunch. Renewal is a great opportunity for women unable to attend the out-of-town Women’s Retreat.
Women’s Retreat is held in the fall at beautiful locations across the California bay area. This past fall, guest speaker Alicia Britt Chole impacted and challenged women of all ages. The women enjoyed a relaxing weekend of fellowship, shopping and sightseeing.
The heart of Women’s Ministries is to see the community be touched by the love and care of Christ. One of the events Women’s Ministries hosts is Care-and-Share, designed to make a group of inner city women feel like a queen for the day. This day of luxury includes breakfast, lunch, new clothes, accessories, cosmetics and a concert—all designed to show love to and bless these women.
Capital Christian Center’s Women’s Ministries is exemplary, offering a variety of opportunities for their women to get connected. Driven by a passion to see their women succeed at any stage in life, Women’s Ministries has accomplished a dynamic unity between the younger and older congregants. Women’s Ministries is designed to encourage and train women to minister to others with their own unique gifts and callings. Cole says, “We believe women can be ministers in every avenue of life. We want our women to see themselves as ministers at home, in the workplace and at church.”
